I have a Knoppyth install trying to use mobo AC97 sound (using a PVR 250 for tv). BIOS sound is enabled. I performed the alsa_init after initial install, rebooted and re-setup mythtv. No sound on TV, no sound on video files. I run aumix and all looks right--PCM and master volume are up.
Any ideas.
Another data point: The identical system was running knoppmyth with sound previously. I reinstalled due to the VIA IDE DMA problem--I installed a PCI IDE card to use for disks instead of onboard IDE. All is wlell with this fresh install, except for this.

I have no idea how I fixed--I'm ashamed to say I used the shotgun approach. I updated alsa-base, rebooted and fiddled with aumix until sound came out. I rebooted again and the sound output held through the reboot, so all is well.
