Hi every one.
Some help would be nice.
I have two problem.

Problem one
When watching live tv the picture jumps every second, i dont get a smooth picture.
The sound is perfect.
When watching tv on xawtv the picture is smooth and fine.

Problem two
Next problem is that when im exit live tv the tv sound keeps running.
only way to turn it of is to reboot or mute in alsamixer.

Im using R4/mythtv0.15.1 and a ordinary wintv card (878).

Any help would be great

problem one is generally because dma is not turned on for the harddrive. search the forums for turning on dma.

problem two is because the sound is supposed to always be muted in alsamixer. what you are hearing is the input sound not the sound from the recording. you need to make sure you have the proper input setup for capture and mute it.

I have already checked that dma is turnd on, so that is not the solution.
Have also run hdparm -c1 -k1 -u1 -d1 -m16 -a8 /dev/hda
Still dont work

if i mute line in then there is no sound, what should i mute?

well if the sound goes away when you mute then you do not have the proper input setup as the cature device.

How fast is your processor? xawtv just plays back live so it isn't has processor intensive as Myth. Myth records the stream in either MPEG-4 or RTJPEG(in the case of a bttv based tuner) then plays it back a few seconds later. Your processor may not be fast enough to encode and decode at the same time.

Well i have suspect that myth neeads a litle mor power the xawtv or zapping.

This is my test machin. It's only a P2 400Mhz.
I was trying out every thing on this before upgrading my Windows HTPC.

I think i'm going to meat more problems when upgrading my HTPC.
I have both EPIA-M and a PVR-350 card on that one.

Have you searched the forum and MythTV docs? The sound problem has been discussed on here recently... As for the jumpy picture, your processor cannot keep up.

must be the soundcard. I've used a soundblaster live, and the onboard, nforce sound, and neither gave me a problem. The default install worked fine. If what you say is the case you will need to just move it over the the mic input and search the boards on how to save the change.

Thanks every one for the help.

I have learned allot.

1; Myth records the stream in either MPEG-4 or RTJPEG(in the case of a bttv based tuner) then plays it back a few seconds later.

2; If you have a faster CPU then me, and still have jumping picture try this
2A: Run "hdparm -c1 -k1 -u1 -d1 -m16 -a8 /dev/hda" this make the different :)
2B: If you are in a PAL land like me you must Configure the Live TV recoding profile, Default and Livetv to use 720*576.

3; Use alsamixer to configure the sound capture, read the mythtv document for more information http://www.mythtv.org/docs/mythtv-HOWTO-7.html#ss7.2
To setup and save alsamixer settings read this post http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1613&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=alsa

4; Creative PCI 128 can give you trouble with the line in and capture. If you have trouble like me use the mic in as capture

5; I can recommend you to install this three programs. It makes KnoppMyth much easier to use

apt-get install nano ---> don’t like VI
apt-get install xfe ---> easy to use gui file navigator
apt-get install synaptic ---> gui front-end to apt-get

6; For all Swedish all recommend you to use televinken to fetch listings.
The tv_grab_se works but grabs only viasat channels, so if you have like me Kanal5 and so use televinken.

Thanks for this beautiful dist, it works great

I live in sweden but I have missed Televinken! I've tried several different grabbers and I'm using _se right now.

I downloaded Televinken and running the perlscripts seems to work, but how did you integrate televinken with knopp myth?

Regards
håkan
