I'm not sure that this is an installation question (maybe a usage forum is needed?). Apologies if its in the wrong place.

After getting knoppmyth up and recording nicely I setup samba and transfered my video files to the mythtv video directory. Some are mpeg some are avi. When I go to play any of the videos it flashes "Loading" on the screen for a second then nothing happens.

I noticed during the mythtv setup that mplayer was the default video player. Is mplayer installed as part of knoppmyth? If not what are the steps to install it?

Thanks.

Yes, MPlayer is installed.
/usr/bin/mplayer in R3.
/usr/local/bin/mplayer for R4.

Usage forum...thanks for the idea.

What was the resolution to this problem?

I am having the same problem..

Click on a video and it says 'LOADING' for about a second and the does nothing. I am able to play the video using the same options from xterm.

I haven't be able to locate any error messages in any of the logs in /var/log but that might just be ignorance of where to look.

Thanks in advance for any help and thanks to the developers of this distribution. This is the third distribution I have attempted to use and this is by far the closest I have to a working prototype.

Have you pressed "Video Manager" to re-find all the videos? Perhaps the names you have in the list are pointing to non-existant files.

Yes, I selected video manager and all of the videos were found.

I also noticed the mplayer command was pointing to /usr/local/mplayer. When I attempted to play a video with that player, I got 'Illegal Instruction'.

I dropped into xterm, tried using mplayer with no path, failed with illegal instruction. Su'd tried using it with no path it worked. Exited su and tried with /usr/bin/mplayer and worked. Fixed the path in settings and everything worked. I have to admit I shouted out loud and scared my wife. Thanks.
