Hi people,

I'm currently running a fairly good MythTV setup which was done on a Mandrake install, but now I want to move over to using KnoppMyth. Has anyone migrated from another distro to KnoppMyth whilst retaining their recordings information from their previous Myth installation and if so, how did you do it?

Cheers

While I think KnoppMyth is the best solution for a PVR/HTPC(period), why are you moving from a working Mandrake system to KnoppMyth? I do believe there is a post on this already(search for more). KnoppMyth creates/recommends four partitions. If you're current setup has multiple partitions then it would be less difficult to move from another distro to KnoppMyth. Basically you'll need mythconverg table from the db to import and of course the .nuvs. Possible problems:

Path, by default recordings are store in /myth/tv. You probably have them else where, I think this can be solved when mythtv-setup runs.

Hostname, you'll want to keep the same hostname that you had with Mdk.

I suppose I could write something more detailed, but I have the time at the moment...

Part of the process would be dumping the DB then reimporting it once KnoppMyth is setup.
