At least, I think the problem was raid. I've got a Abit BE6-2 motherboard with 4 ide channels (the last two are an onboard HPT366). I previously had debian installed on it, but thought I'd give knoppmyth a go after I ran into problems with configuring my PVR250.

Anyway, I used to (still do), have a 120GB software raid 1 acrross hde and f with /home on, and a couple of 30GB soon-to-be raid0 drives across g and h. CD is on hdc, and root was on hda.

Auto-Install went fine, until the reboot from the Hard drive. It jsut hang there, no error messages, not even a "LI" of old.

Anyway, I booted back up off the CD, switch VT, mounted /hda, and used chroot. Looked at {hda}/etc/lilo.conf and there were two lines there, to do with hde and f. Unfortunatly I didn't backup the lilo.conf file and can't remember what the offending lines were off the top of my head.

I deleted (doh, it was late and I was tired, should have #ed them) the two lines, and ran lilo. It installed, and a reboot later everything worked fine.

I'm guessing the problem was with my "raid-autodetect" partitions? Has anyone else had this problem?

knoppmyth does not support raid "out of the box" actually yours sounds like the easiest time anyone has had getting raid to work, at least if thats what you ended up saying. that's what I got out of it.

I dont have raid on the root drive, so the install program didn't touch it. I cant mount /dev/md0 obviously, although as it's raid 1 I can mount the drives independently, but that's not a concern right now.
