Hi All.
I have successfully installed R4V5 on my ASUS Pundit box using a PVR350 TV Out....works great! I had originally had R4V2 installed and upgraded it to MythTV .16 using the apt-get DEBs but that configuration for some reason after some time crashed on me (would have an error on screen stating that your login session only lasted less then 10 seconds when X started then would boot me back out to the welcome screen).
Anyway...My question: Everything is working great with the new install but I am having one little issue. When I reboot the box it comes up with the Debian Welcome screen asking for user and password. If left alone it will automatically login using my mythtv user after a 25 second time out. With my old setup (R4V2 upgraded to .16 using Debs) it used to just start up right away...no delay. Is there a way to change this? I would like for it to log right in and start MythTV the second it starts up the way it used to. Is there a config file that I can edit to either A. Tell it not to wait and log right in OR B. Decrease the time out to maybe 0 or 2 seconds?
Thanks!
Steve

well on a default install there is not timeout set, so you are experiancing some sort of problem or bug.
Does it stop at the command line or in an X enviornment?

In the X enviroment. It stops at the GUI Debian Welcome screen. The same screen you would see if you did a ctrl-alt-backspace to restart the front end. Everything else seems to work except for this.
If I let it sit there I can see it start a countdown from 25 back until it auto logs in.

I've seen this screen when I restart X. I noticed that the screen would go away if I hit "return". My box does not do this when it first starts or if I do /etc/init.d/gdm restart. It goes straight to mythfrontend in that case.

ok....I just issued gdmconfig at the command line and set the auto login in time to 1 second. It seems that for some reason upon the first boot, the system thinks that I just restarted the front end and that's why it is going through a timed login. From the looks at the gdmconfig, the first initial boot should just log in and not present the welcome screen at all BUT when a user logs out or restarts the front end they should be greeted with the welcome login screen and time out after 30 seconds to login in automatically if no user intervention is detected.
Very confusing. I don't have an answer for this so for now I lowered the login time out as a band aid. Hopefully I can find a permanent fix or someone will have one.
Thanks
Steve
