Morning all,

I have a problem with my DVR-250 remote. I installed mythTv - all eventually worked swimmingly. I made the mistake, however, of trying to apt-get install lirc which somehow clobbered the connection between the remote and the mythtv. By this I mean that when I type 'irw', the values for the remote show up and apparently have the correct values, but nothing reacts on the mythtv frontend side.

I don't really understand why this is and my attempts to run 'irxevents &' have given me a 'can't find x server error'

Any thoughts?
Donald

If you have mythtv-arch-lirc, you don't need to use irxevent. I don't think the version of lirc that that you got has support for the Hauppauge 2/350. You'll need to remove it.

or at least, I did apt-get remove lirc. Should I reinstall mythtv-arch-lirc via apt-get or download it or ...?

Can I re-enable the mythtv response to the remote, as the remote seems to be hitting the computer, or is it better to remove the whole lirc and try to reinstall?

I did the same thing here, I ran apt-get install lirc after the remote wasn't working properly. It looks like it's an easy fix but since I'm still very new at this I don't know how I can go about properly reinstalling 0.13 debs. Any help please?

There is an article in the Wiki about recompiling lirc.
http://knoppmythwiki.homelinux.org/inde ... =LIRCHowTo

You can probally skip many of the steps in that.

I thought the 0.13 was referring to Lirc but I think it was referring to the MythTV version. I found this thread with 0.16 debs http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2485 and then installed mythtv-i686-lirc after shutting down the backend. This should reset lirc back to it's original state but my remote still doesn't work. I'm running two PVR-250's and using one of the Hauppage remotes, everything I see points to this remote working out of the box. Also, irw doesn't display anything.
