Hey everyone, my first shot at MythTV and I figured this would be a good primer to get me started but I had one question.

Is there any way to get channels above 125 recorded?

All of the good stations with the shows I want to watch are above that range. I'm thinking that if I get the cable box to change the channels I can probably do it. In turn I'd need a 2nd card so I could record that and watch live TV.

Anyone understand what I want? lol

My wife wants a TivO but doesnt..WANT a Tivo if you know what I mean.

it is possible to put one digital box with mythtv. search the forums for digital cable. There are a couple of threads about it with copius amounts of information, which I won't try to compile here.

Any card will suffice...If I had digital cable, I'd take the output from the box(SVideo) to input(SVideo) of my tuner card and use an IRBlaster(or build a transmitter) to control the cable box.

I also see that WinTV D card. Is that just like having a Digital cable box ? Their "Datasheet" doesnt say anything about the channel range.

I don't think any digital card can replace a digital box. Unfortunately each cable provider uses thier own scheme to encrypt stream....
