Did u call me stupid :( :D

I m making progress but a lot of this is greek to me - but have made some MAJOR strides. I have come up empty on my Hauppauge remote (I have both black and gray) and have no clue what I'm doing with the IR stuff in Linux not to mention its even worse in XP. I was thinking going to my RemoteWonder - which I'd prefer would be easier - just a little lost in the translation here "just like the movie...."

Once I get that piece - I need to get my Nividia TV out ticking and all in all that will cover the main pieces.

Sorry for being a pest - again, much of this I am learining as I go.

The Hauppuage remote(grey) should just work... If you installed the native lirc package all should be working.

Cesman,

I have gray remote in hand ... PVR250 working fine (quality after rebuild and using G4 card is MUCH better - MUCH)....

I get nothing from the remote.

For a stupid GUY Cesman, what are the baby-steps I can confirm or run to get this where it should be?

The last piece for now will be finding how to use the TV Out on myG4 card? If u want to toss me a bone there to (-:

Thanks for ALL ALL of your support. I have searched the threads and there is SO SO MUCH good data. I also found the very good HOW-TO on the ATI, but have the Gray Remote ready...

Not sure I loaded or know hot to LIRC

As root:
dpkg -l | grep mythtv
Do you see
mythtv-i686-lirc or
mythtv-i586-lirc?

If not then you don't have native lirc installed
install-i686-l or
install-i586-l

That should be all you need...

my nvidia g4 is working fine for tv out. I followed the install instructions and ran the nvidia script mentioned in there at the proper time and it just worked.. perhaps you just need to run the script mentioned in the install??

it was in the install instructions for knoppmyth.. it on the knoppmyth page, not in the forums... you might have them printed off already (I printed them off to follow while doing my install).
the url is here:
http://www.mysettopbox.tv/doc.html
here´s the relavent portion (Go to the link and read around that part though, it might not be all of the important stuff):
At the root prompt, type:
# install-nvidia.sh (Thanks Kano!). This will build and setup the NVidia modules. When it completes, X will restart and you'll be taken back to the Xterm asking for the root password. Please provide it and follow the script providing any requested information.

Guys,

I am a newb on Linux, and certainly new to USB with Linux.

However - my system with R14 is running perfect now. I want to switch from my PVR250 remote now that things are working (which was easier to setup) to my ATI-RF Wonder.

I am following the steps - coming up a little dry. It is possible I need to rid of something I had prior in my config from the GrayPVR250 Remote.

Chris

Well - I see a lot of startup-USB data I did not see before so am "thinking" USB is active. I still get no response upon anything with the remote... still diggin here.

Let me know if anyone has something I should double check.

Thx again

For the moment, I suggest sticking w/ the PVR remote which is not functional(at the moment).
