ok in my xf86config i am forcing SVIDEO and using svideo as my input to my card but for some reason it displays in black and white. I've searched through the forums and nothing seems to address my problems. Xserver and console are in color and such. Setup is as follows. amd athlon 1900xp with geforce 2 mx with tv-out (using nvidia's drivers off their website) and pvr 250. Anyone help?

You probably have the input on the 250 wrong. Bring up live tv and an xterm at the same time. Now type:
Code:
for f in 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
do
test_ioctl -p $f
sleep 5
done

This will cycle through all the inputs, pausing for 5 seconds on each one. With luck, one of them will be in color. If so, you just have to find out which one by running the test_ioctl -p for each number to determine the right one.

well it seems i get color now but there are vertical lines that make the quality look very poor. how do i get back into the backend configuration again?/

OK, that bit of code above is just a quick way to run through the inputs without going in and out of mythtv-setup, which is what you have to do to make the change permanent.

mythtv-setup, answer no to both questions, go to (4) input connections and set your input to the right input. The top one is zero. My 250's svideo input is svideo 2.

The vertical bars sound line an ivtv driver thing. Make the change above and reboot (easiest way to reset the ivtv driver that I've found). What version of ivtv are you using?
