i've been following myth for a while, and finally got around to installing KnoppMyth to day :D

i have however run into a deadend now while trying to configure the channels. after some hours on this forum i've managed to get "the snow picture" that indicates the something is being sent to the display, but that the channels are not configured correctly...

i'm using a pvr-350 (tuner type 20)

i've set the correct tuner type as indicated in this thread : http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=755 but have yet to set the pal capture resolutions as that should have nothing to do with tuning the channel.

my cable provider upc (in oslo, norway) provides the following information : http://www.upc.no/fileLibrary/pdf/Oslo.pdf but i simply cannot figure out what info goes where in the channel editor.

or am i completly lost here & my problems elsewhere?

i don't think that'll do it because there ain't no xmltv file for for norway, or should i just use another country so there's some entries in the database?

I don't know the details of how to do it cause I'm in the US and have never had to, but you are going to have to either build your own file or manually enter the data into the database.

The easiest thing (I found) was to find an xmltv grabber which is applicable, in order to get the tv guide listings. I am in Belgium at the moment where there is no grabber included in mythtv. I found an xmltv grabber to use here for the listing (pytvgrab.sourceforge.net). I use this to get my listings into a file (e.g. belgium.xml) and then use the following command to fill the database:

mythfilldatabase --file <source-id> -1 belgium.xml --update

-1 means to replace all the data currently there. The source-id can be found by the following commands:

>mysql -u root mythconverg
mysql> select * from card_input\G

Usually it is 1 but I've found if you muck about with removing and recreating your capture card in the database it increments so be careful that you use the right one.

After that, I found my channels were listed but the grabber did not provide frequency id's. To get these I need to look into the frequencies.c file (can't remember where that is, but it is in the source files somewhere) and match up my frequencies from the cable provider with a frequency id that is used in the pal-europe table. Use mythweb to enter the correct id's in the "Freq ID" column and you're set.

HTH,
Michelle

P.S. If the frequencies are not available, pick a frequency id as close as possible and use the "Finetune" field to adjust it. Each unit in finetune is work 0.0625 MHz (i.e. 16 = +1MHz, -16 = -1MHz)
