I installed R4V2 and it works great, however I am having problems getting the tv out to work. I have searched the forums and tried many of the suggestions posted here but still have no success. I would preferable like SVIDEO out but would settle for composite if needed. If someone could help me it would be great

Thanks

What problems are you having? Have you read the TV Out article on the IVTV site? I am using R4V2 with a PVR-350 which uses SVIDEO and everything works great. I had the TV out working in a few minutes, granted I had done it before using the original R4 so that helped. Let me know what steps you have taken and what problems you are having and I will help you out.

I am confused as to exactly which files I need to edit, I see some people that have there X86Config-4 edited one way and others that have it edited another. I came across the the article on the IVTV site but have not follewed it yet--I will look into this. Also some people say you have to change the permissions on some files for it to work correctly. I will look into the article on the IVTV site, if you could post the changes that need to be made in the config files that would be great--also do I have to update the ivtv drivers or any other drivers for it to work correctly?

I believe R4V2 comes with the latest IVTV drivers, but I downloaded them from the IVTV site and compiled them myself. You should be okay with the drivers you have. You need to follow the guide on the IVTV for the TV out, do exactly what it says, it works! If you get to the end of that guide and you have sound but just a black screen you need to follow the directions here.

IVTV TV Out Guide

I would start at the part that tells you to update your /etc/modules.conf
If after you follow the guide on the IVTV site and you still have problems let me know and I will help you out.

I just got done installing on a new faster box that I just got today and now when I boot it says "You passed an undefined video mode" and allows me to select one--hit space to continue or wait 30 seconds to continue--this computer has onboard video, does this matter for later since I will be sending it out to TV anyways?

Well I tried following the howto on the IVTV site and now I am left with a blinking cursor in the center of my TV screen and the bootup messages on the monitor. The howot on that site was really complicated for me--is there a simpler howto someplace?

How far did you get through the howto before things went wrong? When you did 'cat /dev/video > test.mpg' were you able to see video? I don't think there is a simpler howto out there.

No I was not able to see the video on the Mythtv box when i ran that command. However I also did not copy it to another box to watch as I do not have Samba set up yet.

Well you won't be able to see anything on the MythTV box when you run that command. Do you have networking setup? FTP the file to another machine that has an mepg player and see if you get any video. This step is pretty crucial to make sure that things are configured like they should be. Did you try the command 'dd if=/dev/video of=/dev/video16 bs=64k'? If things are set up correctly you should see video on the MythTV box. You really need to follow the guide very closely, I know it seems a bit tricky at first but it's not too difficult. Did you see the test image when the guide told you to run these two commands?
rmmod saa7127
insmod saa7127 enable_output=1 output_select=0 test_image=1

It would be a bit easier to help you if you could tell me where things started going wrong. The guide tells you what the expected results are after most steps, if you don't get these results something is wrong and you should not move on until everything is kosher.

A default configuration already exist for Samba, you just needed to start it. Username name and password is mythtv.

Thanks for everyone's response, I am going to reinstall and try again sunday night and will make sure to carefully do each step and make notes as to what doesn't work--sorry for not doing it the first time.

Thanks
