I got a picture working on my knoppmyth setup finally. Cool! But I have no sound. Honestly, I think it's probably that the computer has no sound at all, since I've never heard it make any sound. Is there some test I can try, some other software installed that I can use to see if the sound is working outside of MythTV?

My sound card is the integrated "Intel Integrated Audio 82801/BBA/BAM AC '97 Audio Controller." I searched through the PVR HW database and didn't find it there; maybe I shouldn't expect it to work? If anyone thinks it would work better, I have a spare Ensoniq AudioPCI card I could use.

For what it's worth, I could run amixer and move all the sliders, etc. Does that mean that KnoppMyth sees the card, or is that just a red herring?

THanks,
Matt

Yes, I'd say the card is seen. Saying you get "no sound " isn't saying much... It doesn't help to troubleshoot the problem. Have you tried a CD or video file? Have tuner card do you have?

Thanks. It was dumb of me not to try more things myself, first. Consider me chastised.

I can't play a CD directly because I don't have that little wire that runs to the cd-rom drive, so I didn't try to figure that out. Instead I ripped a CD and played the result. It works! BUT, it's super quiet. I had to turn my amplifier (I run a cable from the sound out to the inputs on my stereo) up to about 5 before I could hear anything, and usually 5 is way too loud for any kind of reasonable non-teenage person.

So I went back to tv-watching and tried turning the amp all the way up, but I still couldn't hear anything. Maybe the TV sound is just way, way quieter, or maybe I have two problems: quiet sound in general and a config problem in TV sound.

Any more diagnostics? Thanks.

I have a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR250, using hardware encoding, and I didn't intentionally recompile ivtv. If it's something that happens in the knoppmyth installed, it may have happened without me knowing about it. Do I have to recompile it? Thanks.

hmm.. I get the same problem, but still have no sound after a ivtv recompilation.

WinTV PVR-250 Model 199 (32059)

Video works fine, as does sound on everything else.

Using R4V4 and
SiS SI7012 Audio (AOpen m/b).

And for some reason video doesn't even work in xawtv .

I guess that is the newer version of the 250? You may new a newer version of IvyTV. Also check the forum for details about getting the newer version to work properly.

Here, but I cannot recommend any specify version as work is constantly being done on the drivers. I am having great success w/ ivtv-0.1.10-pre2-ck101g.

Thanks. You wouldn't by any chance, know a howto for installing/upgrading ivtv would you?
