What is the most pain-free way to install new ivtv modules and kernel?
Perhaps a search of the forum. I've posted instructions on installing ivtv and folks have talked about kernel.

I just tarred up my //lib/modules in case something went wrong, then just d/l'd and built ivtv. it builds separate from the kernel tree, no patching, etc. Wasn't so bad.

I still can't get X server and tv to work nice on the pvr-350 tv-out. For now I'm settling for X server on an LCD and tv on tv-out.

I gave up as well, I'm going to put off playing with things until R5 rolls around which will hopefully be a beautiful setup out of the box with the PVR-350/250 *pray* *sacrifice many cats* *pray*

I actually did get it working.

I reshuffled my PCI cards which changed the lspci info for the card. I updated XFfee86Config-4 once again with the new info, and all was well.

Some motherboards share interrupts on a couple slots, some slots are bus mastering and others weren't etc. Usually this is not an issue, PCI supposedly allows for interrupt sharing, but network cards among others are generally not happy sharing interrupts.

So reshuffling your cards may help.

ANother person suggested setting the default record settings from 480x480 to 720x480, which may help.

Overall I am pretty happy with it now. There are still quirks which will hopefully be improved.

Both should work beautifully w/ R4. The only thing is the 350's TV out isn't setup to work "out the box". Due to various hardware configurations some folks do/will have issues. I too have found changing PCI slot resolves some problems. Dale and I will try best to get hardware to work out the box. Unfortunately we don't have(cannot afford) ever possible configuration to ensure this. In some cases changing a PCI will resolve issues. Hopfully more folks will come to the forum and share usage experience and problem resolutions. I guess the bottom line is that we'll try and get as much as possible to work but some troubleshooting maybe required on the user end.

Dave
Could you please specify which .12 packages you removed and which .13 packages you installed?

I am new to linux and I am just getting used to apt-get.

Thanks,
Mike G.
