Ok,

If I do CTRL-ALT-F1 after I set the card up, mythtv-setup.... In the screen feedback I get

ivtv: Timeout waiting or data!
ivtv: Timeout waiting or data!
ivtv: Timeout waiting or data!

and it keeps scrolling.....

Another thing that is odd, is perhaps the drivers I referenced before are part of the issue of what is occuring here.

I am seeing about 5 composite, and 5 svideo options for this card. Not sure it matters as I am only using Tuner - but it does not seem to match the layout of the card.

Try changing the PCI slot. What chipset is on your motherboard? Problems have been reported w/ via chipsets and ivtv. If all else fails update ivtv. I've posted instructions on doing so....

I have also tried different PCI slots without any change. And I do have multiple inputs, 4 or 5 of each type, just as you commented about. It seems after a fresh install they are there but when you clear out the settings only Television is available. I need to confirm that this happens from both of my installs tho. Did anyone notice the new version of Myth, 0.14, was released on Jan 31st?

I am also very surprised that so many people have had such an easy install and we seem to have no luck so far.

My board is using the Sis chip not VIA so it probably is not that conflict. When the FVWM starts I see the very little box in the upper right hand of the screen appear with half of it snow and the other solid green. This is what I would get full-screen when I did not have my ATI card configured properly. When I put the PVR-250 full screen the HD seems to be writing but there is nothing but black on the screen.

Hopefully we can narrow this down a bit.

My system config is this:
ECS K7S5A (Not the best Mobo but it works)
Athlon XP 1600+
256mb PC2100 DDR
GeForce 2 MX 400
SB Audigy
IBM 80gb HD
WD 60gb HD

Cesman,

FYI - I purchased a new PVR250 card yesterday (fresh one), it as well is not recognized .... upon boot I see where it looks, shows Intertext... yada.. then says UNKNOWN device. I have slot changed and no luck at all.

I just updated IVTV - no luck there either.

What has been the most common fix u've seen to this. Currently 2 of my 3 cards (only using 1 in the box) are not recognized.

Thanks?

I forgot to add - this has been on fresh installs, I am just building, and I have 3 PCI slots to try and same result in all of them.

I just feel I must be missing a step but have been documenting like crazy everything I am doing.

Thanks much...

Again....The lspci output is correct. The card is recognized. If you let KnoppMyth do it things the card should function UNLESS:
You have a VIA chipset.
Too many devices sharing the same IRQ.
BIOS misconfiguration.

Possible solutions:
Update IvyTV.
Change PCI slot the card is in.
Check you BIOS settings(turn off PnP and APIC).

Cesman,

Call me crazy - but this seems to me like a driver issue (again I am novice in Linux)... But, I saw a reference in a thread that I should goto Hauppauge for the latest driver - and the only Linux reference I swa pointed me back here.... (-:

http://www.hauppauge.com/html/sw_pvr_250.htm#beta

Am I missing something on their site, or do you not think this card not being recognized is a driver issue. Just seems odd 2 of these cards are not being seen by the system and one was just opened.

Thanks

Understand now,

So is this odd, any suggestions. Again - upon booting and I am all updated as I can see at this point - when the OS looks for the cards, it "kinda" sees one then after the Intertext.... it responds with UNKNOWN?

Any tips on this Cesman. I'd simply love to get this card working and not sure which direction to go.

Again - everything you've told me I've documented to the high-heavens, and am building this base in my mind as I move along.

Thoughs Cesman?

Again, this is normal. The card is detected.

Again, I've posted instructions on updating ivtv....it is a sticky.

On 2 of 3 PVR250 cards

2 cards "kinda" show recognized - BUT then show UNKNOWN.... They don't sow as MpegEndcoders like the 1 card that does work.

IVTV is completely update per your sticky

The 2 cards seem like they are just not being truly recognized by the system even after complete systematic rebuilds and driver updates?

This is no different than what I have done for the one card that does work. The new card, purchased yesterday has NTSC/NTSC-J 32032 written on the side with a Conexant chip-set.? :?:
