I tried to install knoppmyth and it boots of the cd fine then I go to install the os and it says error no hard drive access. I thought it may just be something on the drive so I took out the hard drive and put it in my windows machine then used partition magic to format the drive. I then tried to install the os again and the same thing happens no hard drive access. I have checked that I have pointed to the correct hard drive and that is all ok. What am I doing wrong. Thanks in advance. :D

Hi m4rt1n,

Don't know what you are doing wrong, however to make the KnoppMyth see the drive, check the drive is jumpered to be master and the cable is using the ide1 mobo connector (assuming you have two) You may have to swap out the ribbon cable as some have little punch outs to break certain lines.

For the most part, I think most folks firgure you are starting with a box that runs. You could try booting up a "live" cd as DSL, Knoppixs, or Ubuntu Drapper and see if you can "see" what may be any issue. cfdisk

Have a great day!
Mike
