Post subject: | Controlling my hughes DirecTV reciever from my MythTV box |
Hello I have a Hughes Model GAEBOA receiver which I use with my DirecTV system. I read some other posts on how to get a script to control the box, and I have a few questions. A lot of people are talking about a serial-to-RJ11 plug (?) to connect the two boxes. I cannot do that because I do not have a "Home Control" port on the back of my DirecTV receiver. I do, however, have a 1/8" mini din jack (headphone jack) plug labeled "RF Remote". Can I use this port somehow? I really have no idea, as I am no engineer. Also, I have the IR blaster which came with my Tivo. It uses a similar 1/8" headphone jack (2 contacts, not 3). Is there a way for me to use this? If not, where do I get an IR blaster? Thanks, ----------------------Steve |

That scares the CRAP out of me! I think I'd kill myself putting something like that together. It's got all those squiggly lines and zigzags. Looks pretty technical. I have an IR blaster that came with my Tivo. It has a mono headphone jack at one end, and 2 wedge-shaped blasters at the other. http://www.wtv-zone.com/WIN/Sellow/Fram ... laster.jpg Can I use this somehow? thanks, ---------------S |

I can't see how you're going to be able to connect that to your mythbox. Here's a serial ir blaster for $25: http://store.snapstream.com/irblcapa.html |
