The install and formats went fine but I get this message everytime. I have never gotten past this point. I booted to the cd again and tried to do frontend and i don't know the root password and I can't install anything. Am I doing something wrong or is there a way I can fix my mbr?

There is no root password... You define it during installation. Boot off the CD again and
Code:
mount -o rw /dev/hda1 /mnt/hda1
chroot /mnt/hda1
lilo -v
exit
reboot
Results?

Thanks for the reply. At what point do I type this in? I get back to the screen where it has the 6 options. I usually go to the frontend.

I found the solution doing a search. You just need to nano lilo.conf to edit the file and delete the part lines at the top. That did the trick. Thank you Cecil for turning me in the right direction.
