Post subject:  hda: lost interrupt mesage on boot

I just loaded knopmyth. I had to use the noapic acpi=off (what exactly does that do?) option that I found by searching this forum to get it to load initially.

But when I reboot, it halts w/ the same messabe, churns for a minute, then I get a "host protected area=> 1" messave, then a little disk info, then a "kernel panic: Aiee, killing interrupt handler! In interrupt handler not synching"

Then it just stops. any thoughts on what is going on? It is a P4 2GHz 512Mb RAM, w/ a seagate 160Gb drive.

Thanks,

Okay, I fixed that one.

For the person who finds this while searching, the noapic stops the apic translation on the pci bus which was hosing up the interrupts.

halt the load at lilo (shift alt I think), and run linux noapic at the prompt. Then ad noapic under /etc/lilo.conf and run lilo -v.

Now on to getting output from a pvr-350. More ?'s tomorrow.
