Post subject:  No useful picture when installing

I have a problem with installation on my ASUS Puntit. When booting from the CD I am greeted with the boot menu, but no matter what I choose in the menu, the screen becomes useless. Random letters and symbols flicker across the screen while the CD boots. The CD should be fine, the MD5 sums are correct, and the CD boots perfectly on my other computer.

I'm guessing that the CD can't recognize my onboard graphics correctly? Or do I need to pass some extra parameters to the boot menu?

Please be specific, I'm pretty new to Linux :)

The Pundit box contains as follows:
P4 Celeron 2.0 GHz, (400 MHz FSB)
LG DVD-ROM 16x/48x
Seagate Barracuda, 40 Gb, 7200 rpm ATA/100
Pinnacle PCTV Stereo
2 x 256 mb PC2100 DDR

well are you trying to setup on a tv or a monitor? if a tv you may want to use tv at the boot: prompt.

Using a monitor. I have connected the video out from the motherboard using a composite->scart cable, but I don't turn the TV on when trying to install.

[EDIT] Solved the problem by installing using only the TV. Thank you for your help. :)
