Ive been lurking here for a while, heres my questions that Im still unsure of. BTW, why doesnt Knoppmyth have a faq?

1: PVR350 before I go sink some money into this could someone give me an idea of what kind of problems I will run into with this card? Or, if there is an alternitave card that does code/decode onboard and has coaxial prefereably, but s-video/composite would also do.

2: I use rabbit ears instead of cable/sattelite can I capture dobly 5.1 with it, and if so can myth play it back? What kind of hardware would I need for such a beast?

3: I am currently a Tivo owner and very happy, especialy when my t.v. spams me after an update. What will I lose from jumping the tivo boat? What will I gain? Does MythTV have an option for putting spam on my tv? Please nip-pick with your answers, this should cover most of what Im wondering feature wise.

4: Why is there no installation docs?

5: I want something that works out of the box, just plug it in and go. Ive been running Linux since 1996 so fixing things isnt a problem, but if they are avoidable that would be prefered. I dont want my t.v. crashing. Is this the best distro for it?

6: Ive seen this question touched on many times, but I have never seen a definitive answer. If I get a capture card that does coding/decoding on board, will my little pIII 350 work fine?

7: Is MythTv in any way connected to the secret shadow conspiracy goverment that uses satelites to secretly read my brain waves, and if so will a custom made tin foil hat for my PVR stop them?

Hey qwerty!

I have almost those exact same questions! when you get replies could you forward them to me privately because I don't read the forums.

TIA!

Oh! did you know that the second part of your username is, like, the first half of the first row of keys on the keybaord? Well, not the first row but the first row alpha keys. I've been programming since 1977 so I know what "alpha" means.

guys, if you're running a tivo already you should just wait. You've already sunk the cash into it. I'd recommend you wait until it dies and then come back.
The only reason I'd recommend replacing your tivo is if you either a) don't like having all your program watching habits recorded or b) you want to be able to watch all those divx movies and mp3s you downloaded off of usenet on your tv.
