Hi,
I'm a linux newbie - :roll:

I managed to install the knoppmythtv program! However I have these problems.

1.) Machine boots into blank screen. I eneterd xterm and did the mythtv-setup. I answered no then yes. The Mythtv background appears for about 2 secs then it exits back out to xterm and says illegal instruction?

2.) I've tried to fill the data base but it syas that there are no channel sources defined - did you run the setup?

3.) I try and start mythbackend and is says;
ERROR: no capture cards are defined in the database
QServerSocket: Failed to bind or listen to the socket - failed to bind port: 6543

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Onion

Did you do an auto install?

Do you know what processor you have in your computer?

After the install and removing the CD and reboot... An XTerm should appear asking for the root password. This did not occur? Did you get any errors during the install?

1)Open and xterm
2)touch .configure
3)Left Click on desktop ->Exit Fvwm->Restart

The Xterm should popup asking for the root password, please provide and following the installation...

Yes, I rebooted (removing the CD) and it then asked me for password. I fixed time and date etc. I answered no for DHP (not sure what to answere on that really?) It told me to say yes to the next two questions then complete the next four steps. When it tries to get channel info, it then say nothing found and asks if I ran setup?

then...the myth screen appears, then blanks out to an empty front end?

Help...................... :D

DHCP is for your network. That is why it did get any program listings, you didn't configure the network. If you aren't using DHCP then answer no and configure manually. Do as I stated in my previous posting. At the end, select the i586 packages.

Hi cesman!

I tried to enter .configure in xterm however it keeps responding with command not found. I tried ./configure and mythtvconfigure too?
