I installed Knoppmyth R5D1 from a cd iso. The install went smooth, no problems were detected.

Upon the installation completeing and booting for the first time, the X Window system failed to start, the error provided in the log files were "failed to load nvidia module (module does not exist)".

I looked for the nvidia module and found nvidia_drv.o symlinked to another file name that does not exist. I don't recall what the link was go. However, there was an nv_drv.o file there.

I also noticed that 'hwsetup -p' identified my video card as....
"nVidia Corporation|unknown device 0x392". I did find reference to the hex value matching up to the card I have - Asus 7600 GS.

No one has a clue how to resolve the missing nvidia module error when X starts?
