Well, I just discovered some frustrating things about my Realtek 8180 based wifi card. The driver on their website (www.realtek.com.tw) will compile under R4V2, but it complains a bit. But thats ok because it works. It failed compile under the newer kernel in my just upgraded R4V3 system. I don't have any programming skill so its unclear to me whether the errors are material or easily addressed. As a result, I'm reinstalling R4V2 so I can have connectivity. Drat. I think I would rather invest in a more widely supported card under Knoppix. Can someone suggest wifi card(s) that are directly supported in R4V3? And in the absence of that support, cards that are widely supported under Debian? Thanks. -Jeff |

Why is this in installation? If things works fine in R4V2, why upgrade? |

Cecil, on the why upgrade issue - I haven't had the system totally in service yet and am still tweaking, since I can install it relatively quickly and and it wasn't in service so I wasn't losing any data, I decided to start at the newer version. Excellent project, thanks for putting it together. -Jeff |
