I have onboard intel sound. However, the only sound that I can hear is from the internal mono speaker. I've checked with alsamixer and PCM is not muted and the volumes are up. Is there another setting I need to configure to get the sound to come out the external speakers? Evertyhing else seems to work great. Any help is greatly appreciated. thanks, esurfer |

Have you verified that your external speaker are indeed working(perhaps plugging them into a CD player or another device) and plugged into line out? |

Hmmm. After playing with a few settings, I found out my sound is being directed to the headphones output. How can I change it so that it is being directed out the external speaker output. Also, it seems as if the configuration is not being saved when I reboot. How do you get it to save the settings? Thanks, esurfer |

To save the settings from alsamixer: /usr/sbin/alsactl store To restore settings: /usr/sbin/alsactl restore The restore can be inserted in one of the startup scripts, so you have your settings kept each time you boot up. |
