Post subject:  Manual Install Problems (howto configure installation)

Im trying to do a manual install after my automatic installation failed 3 times.

In the "official knoppmyth" installation list, im suck at #12: "Configure Installation"

It says choose /dev/hda1 as the partition to put knoppmyth. Where the heck do i do this?

I partitioned all the drives correctly, and then rebooted like it said i might have to.

I then loaded the config file with "knoppmyth myconfig=/KNOPPIX/knoppmyth"

So it boots up exactly to what happened if i just hit "enter"

Very confused!

please help!

I don't remember this being a part of manual install... If you follow the instructions step by step you should have no problems. Sorry I don't know how to make it any simpler. How does auto install fail?

Perhaps i misunderstood. That was in reference to this installation step:
"Load config
Use a configuration path of /KNOPPIX/knoppmyth "

i assumed i did this when the PC rebooted and came to the boot: prompt.

What should I have done instead?

As for the auto-install failure, here is the error message:
"/usr/local/bin/KnoppMyth-auto - line 608 / 1000000 syntax error: operand expected (error token is /1000000)

Any ideas? Perhaps i need to re-download or re-burn the ISO like some people suggested for other problems??

Thanks again for the help, i really appreciate the creator helping me out!

Perhaps a search of the forum for "1000000"?

Post subject:  FIXED!

Aha, After searching for 1000000 i found my problem. The Jumper cable on my IDE HD was set to "Cable Select" instead of "Master" Fixed that and auto-install worked like a charm!!!

Thanks again!
