Hi,

How to reinstall Knoppmyth without losing all my video, music, games, recorded programs etc.

I am new to both Linux and Myth, and sometimes this is the only way out for me.

Thanks

search the forums on backup. basically you run the backup utility, and copy a couple of files into a dir then when you reinstall instead of doing autoinstall you do autoupgrade which will restore everything back from the data partition.

like I said there is a thread from cesman somewhere exactly detailing this procedure.

The video/music/games etc should have gone to /myth partition with a journalled fs if you followed the instruction. So whatever you do to reinstall/upgrade or move to a new distribution, when asked to format that partition, say no.

Why are you reinstalling? Hopefully not your schedule offset problem, since you're only going to have a worse case of the same problem when you restore.

Hi,

The schedule offset problem has mostly fixed itself after 2 days, most of the listings were ok now.

I am reinstalling because I try to install the XvMC and nvidia drivers folowing the instructions for auto-install but it never works.

install-i686-x seems to go on ok, but install-nvidia always returns an error saying it can find the file. :?:

Thanks

I answered the nvidia install in your other post, however be ware if you reinstall now things won't work, because zap2it just broke xmltv agian and good workarounds are not in place yet.
