I've just tried to install a fresh copy (ie auto install) of R5F1 and my system freezes during the first boot. After I go through the installation script and reboot into the new system for the first time, the last thing I see is "checking nvidia video driver installation". After that the screen goes blank and the system is completely unresponsive (ie. the keyboard is useless, there is no network response). I am forced to reboot.

The system has been running R5B7 successfully for a year and a half.
System specs:
SIS 768 chipset motherboard
Nvidia GeForce 5200 (nv34)
Haupauge pvr-250
svideo out to TV
AMD 3200+
512 MB ram

I suspect that X11 is crashing my system, and I am using the default xorg.conf. When I copied xorg.conf.nvidia.tv.out.sample to xorg.conf, I had the same problem. on a whim, I changed defaultdepth from 24 to 23 and rebooted. X failed to start after than with the error "INIT: Id "c7" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes". but at least my system wasn't totally frozen like before.

Can someone help me please??

Yes, I did get this taken care of. You can see my solution here:

If my method isn't clear, let me know and I will help clarify.
