Hiya, The auto install went great and the video portion of using this card works just fine. I have tested the ir receiving portion of the card in windows and it does work (just to confirm the hardware is working). I read the forums and recompiled lirc as indicated. I got that done and put this line in my /etc/modutils/lirc: alias char-major-61 lirc_gpio And then ran update-modules However, when it boots I get the following in my syslog: Jun 1 23:17:56 mythtv kernel: lirc_dev: IR Remote Control driver registered, at major 61 Jun 1 23:17:56 mythtv insmod: /lib/modules/2.4.25-chw/misc/lirc_gpio.o: init_module: Invalid request code Jun 1 23:17:56 mythtv insmod: Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters. You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg Jun 1 23:17:56 mythtv insmod: /lib/modules/2.4.25-chw/misc/lirc_gpio.o: insmod char-major-61 failed Jun 1 23:17:56 mythtv kernel: lirc_gpio (-1): card type 0x0, id 0x0 Jun 1 23:17:56 mythtv kernel: lirc_gpio (-1): cannot detect TV card nr 0! Couldn't find a reference to "Invalid request code" in the forums...have I compiled the lirc incorrectly? Any suggestions as to what to try next? Thanks, Jim |

With the lack of replies - can I assume that either a) no one has any other ideas about what I am doing wrong, b) I am posting in the wrong area. If it is a) then can anyone suggest a good/cheap pre-built IR Receiver/Transmitter (I do need both) that I can purchase to get full functionality from my MythTV box? A suggestion on where to purchase would also be appreciated. Altought the video/audio portion is working, if you think I would be better off getting a different capture card, I wouldn't mind hearing about that too. If I understand correctly, the PVR-250/350 cards would take a lot of the load off the CPU because they do hardware compression where I don't think my current card does. Jim |
