Hi,

I'm trying to install KnoppMyth R5F1 on a new(er) PC that I have here but it fails every time at udev hot-plug hardware detection.

The PC is a HP Pavilion with:
Pentium 4 2.93
1GB DDR RAM
80GB SATA HDD
Onboard everything
64MB Geforce4 MX440 PCI
USB Logitech Keyboard and Mouse
Microsoft MCEUSB remote
DVD-RW Drive
Aus Motherboard with a Intel 915 chipset with a RTL1001L Audio and RTL8139 Network chips.

When I remove the graphics card from the PCI slot and use the onboard it works fine but I'd prefer to use the Nvidia card to get TV out. Any idea?

Thanks,
Peter Young.

Install without the Nvidia card, then blacklist the intel AGP driver

Code:
echo "intel_agp" >> /etc/hotplug/blacklist

Then install the Nvidia card.

I had the the same problem on a Dell machine with integrated video.

Did you try the intelfix option on boot?

If TJC's fix works for you go for it, much simpler. Didn't work for my mobo.

I happened to be trying KM tester version on the PC above mentioned today and apparently the process for blacklisting the intel_agp driver changed (probably a udev thing).

This is what I had to do to get working.

Install without Nvidia card, after remove CD reboot, at enter password screen. ALT+CTRL+F2 to get to a console
Code:
pico /etc/modules

Comment out line
Code:
#intel_apg

Code:
pico /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist

Add a line
Code:
blacklist intel_agp

Code:
halt -p

Install Nvidia card and boot.

Again this is a tester version, not R5F1 so YMMV.

Hi Guys

Thanks for all of the options! I'll give them a try and drop a note back when I've got it going!

Thanks,
Peter Young.
