so I decided to upgrade and I tried to install it as an upgrade, and it tries to boot and the screen flashes (monitor) then it says something about regenerating too fast or something and it will try again in 5 minutes, which it does, but then it repeats.

the TV out does nothing.

so I figure it's a problem from going from c7 to f1... so I do ful install

but it deos the same thing...

my specs are in my signature

Did you have a look at tjc's post here?
Search for IVTV Driver changes in that page.

Also see http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... 5f1+pvr350 It may be as simple as changing /dev/fb1 to /dev/fb0

electrohacker,

What kind of video card/chip do you have? Nvidia?

Your problem sounds like the symptoms others have reported and the cause was an nvidia driver problem.

Perhaps this thread will send you in the right direction?
http://www.mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewto ... highlight=

I know I've seen other threads with same error reported in them. Serach the forum for that code. Use the "Search for all terms" button when you search. It will narrow down the search hits for more precise answers!

Best wishes!

The xorg config file is found here: /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Savage card? Made by S3 Graphics? I looked at their site and the Savage cards are filed under Legacy Products, so they must be kinda old, and probably have driver support in Linux.

This forum post sounds very similar to your situation:
http://www.mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewto ... ght=savage

See if that helps you.

Good luck!

Ugh, your sig says PVR-350 tv out. You may need to set Driver "nv' in /etc/X11/xorg.conf...
EDIT: As this is really a post-installation issue the thread may be deleted. Try the "nv" driver to get going, then check nVidia's site to see what version of their driver you should be using for your specific video card. /EDIT

not really post instillation... granted it's past the reboot, but it's before any screen ever came up.

the 350 is used as tv out, but the monitor has to be used durring setup
