Post subject: | Pinnacle PCTV Pro |
I have a PCTV pro card, but I cant get the TV viewing to work. The screen just goes blank and the PC freezes and i Have to reboot. I am admittedly a linux newbie, I just need a few pointers to get this thing working. I would just buy a winpvr 250, but i just graduated and have no money. Any help is appreciated. Especially in regards to configuring specifically for the PCTV pro, which im not sure how to do. I have seen posts on other message boards about configuring the BTTV drivers specifically for the PCTV pro card, but i dont know where to find the config file or how to edit it. Any help is appreciated! |

You can read how to solve this in my new book called "Perhaps a Search of the Forum". It is in the hardware chapter. |

Ok I smiled too, but I checked before and after I posted that and I still cant find what I need. I checked for configuring bttv, PCTV, etc. What am i looking for? Is there a guide to configuring BTTV once it is installed with Knoppmyth Auto-install? That would be ideal |

First read:http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=31 The file to edit is /etc/mythtv/modules/bttv not /etc/modules |

Ok, i used vi to edit that file to the specs in that previous post you gave me. I changed the cardtype to 52. I also tried the default values you gave me. I didnt get a blank screen, instead i got a mostly green screen with multi-color static in the top 15% of the screen. It "appeared" to be changing channels, and it responded to the # pad. |

Do you have cable or a good antenna attached? Make sure the cable/antenna is connected to the TV input and not the radio input (if any). And did you tune to a valid channel? Also, make sure you have the correct signal type chosen in mythsetup (i.e. us-broadcast or us-cable if you are in the US). Your problem sounds like the system is trying to process channel with no signal on it. |
