Post subject:  Enabling APIC in R4V4

Hello. R4V2 was previously running well for me, but I wanted to update to Myth 15.1, so I reinstalled fresh with R4V4. I think my system was running better under the linux kernel included with R4V2. Specifically, I think the local APIC support provided better irq access to the ivtv drivers (I have a pvr-350 using tv-out and an Intel 815e chipset). Now I am having "waiting for data" errors sometimes. The pvr-350 is assigned to irq 10 and is not sharing it with other devices (as far as I can tell).

Anyway, is there a how-to on recompiling the kernel with APIC support enabled? Is this more complicated than setting a flag and running a makefile?

Thanks,
Rich

Well, I have been able to achieve stability without the APIC support. It seems that version 0.1.9a of the ivtv drivers were the key.
