I recently moved my knoppmyth 5F27 installation to new hardware. It's working fine except that it doesn't have a driver for the SIS900 integrated ethernet. Dmesg indicates that the hardware is correctly detected, but there is no sis900.ko file.

I'm fairly new to Linux, so this is probably a very basic question, but how do I get this driver?

I have access to another Linux box (running Gentoo and a slightly older kernel version) and found sis900.ko (as well as sis900.c and sis900.h) there. I copied the .ko file, but modprobe complained "module not found" Do I need to build the driver from the source files? If so, is there a make file or a standard set of compile options for building drivers?

I'm failr certain that module is built into the kernel. Doesn't netcardconfig work to configure networking?

Ah, netcardconfig, that's what I was missing! I ran it and the network works fine. Thanks for your help.
