Hi.

I have a problem that I cannot pinpoint the cause (and solution).

I am running latest KnoppMyth version with a AMD 2100+XP, 512MB ram, pvr350.

The video is jittery or choppy all the time during liveTV. I used top and noticed the mythfront end is running two sessions for a combined cpu usage of 90%+. I assume this is creating the performance issue.

I am running DMA on the hard drive and have tried swapping the pvr350 to another pci slot.

TVout or Monitor out has the same issue. Any ideas?

are you trying to use the tvout of the pvr350? if so do you have the use pvr350 option checked in playback?

If not what type of video card do you have? You may have something that isn't using xv which could drive the utiliztion up, but what you are seing is not normal at all. I have a 1700+ and It may use 20% cpu during playback.

I have tried using pvr350 tvout and without with the same problem.

Bypassing tvout I still get the same error using my monitor. I have an ATI 9200 video card.

I've tried multiple installs and configurations and have the same problem. Mythfronted is using alot of CPU. Any ideas?

I'm scratching my head at the moment.

What is the best way to check cpu utilization during livetv playback. I have been switching to runlevel 3 with top already running to grab the cpu utilization. One mythfronted session is about 45% and another is about 35%.

It seems a bit odd that two sessions are pulling this much cpu.
