Post subject:  X Display on PVR-350 TV Out

Hi everyone, I could use some help getting the X Display working on my PVR-350. I'm working with KnoppMyth R4V4, and have made it as far as having the X Display showing on my monitor through a generic video card, and video playback showing on the TV hooked up to the TV Out on the PVR-350.

Next I want to get the X Display onto the the TV through the PVR-350 TV output instead of the monitor. I started by

# cp /etc/X11/XF86Config-4.pvr350-tvout.sample /etc/X11/XF86Config-4

Then I went to customize the new XF86Config-4 for my specific hardware. I checked what framebuffer I was using:

# grep iTVC15 /var/log/messages
Jun 18 21:32:31 mythtv kernel: ivtv: Found an iTVC15 based chip
Jun 18 21:32:43 mythtv kernel: fb1: iTVC15 TV out frame buffer device

The line:
Option "fbdev" "/dev/fb1"
was already set to fb1, so I made no change there.

Then I checked what BusID I was using:

# lspci -v | grep iTVC15
00:0e.0 Multimedia video controller: Internext Compression Inc iTVC15 MPEG-2 Encoder (rev 01)

And updated the BusID line in XF86Config-4 to:
BusID "0:0x0e:0"

Saved, and restarted the machine. It complained about the mouse, so I changed
InputDevice "Mouse0" "CorePointer"
back to
InputDevice "PS/2 Mouse" "CorePointer"

and tried again. Now it boots up without complaining about the mouse, but both my TV and my Monitor go black after it settles. I poked around and found a suggestion to try
Driver "ivtvdev"
instead of
Driver "fbdev"
but that didn't seem to help either.

Any help of where to go next would be appreciated. Thanks
