Post subject:  R5F27 Fresh install kills previously working remote PVR-250

I've been running R4V5 for years with no problems. A fresh, auto-install of R5F27 onto a new drive causes my PVR-250 hauppauge grey remote to work in a very laggy fashion. I'd estimate if i push down 10 times, it'll work 2 or 3 of those times. Plugging in a keyboard and using the arrow keys allow me to navigate rapidly.

I've troubleshooted the following:
- new AAA batteries
- plugged the old R4V5 drive in and remote works perfectly, as it has
- reinstalled R5F27 on the new drive twice

Someplace in the KnoppMyth Wiki, I read something about a repeat setting for LIRC. Could that be it?

Any other ideas?
Thx

See #5 under Known Issues here http://knoppmyth.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.p ... 84&start=0

Always a good starting point to read the specific version's Hints & Tips posting, tjc works very hard putting them together to help the rest of us keep our sanity...

Read the section titled "Resolving conflicts with the Hauppauge remote control" in the following wiki page:

FWIW - The R5F27 Hints item that slowtolearn referenced, include a link to that exact same thread.

I know I'm like a broken record on this topic but... Please, read the hints. While the information is packed in there very densely, they can save you hours of searching or worse. If you're not already a KnoppMyth expert with years of down and dirty Unix/Linux experience you're almost guaranteed to learn something new and useful in the process.

As stated in http://knoppmyth.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=16384&start=0, running the following command to remove the (in my case, unnecessary) ir_kbd_i2c driver fixed the problem completely.

Code:
rm -f /lib/modules/2.6.18-chw-13/kernel/drivers/media/video/ir-kbd-i2c.ko
