Hi Human, Will it be?...
Code:
cd /dev/hda

Where can I find all instructions to study tx.

It'd be
Code:
cd /cdrom

That's the mount point on your system, not /mnt/cdrom. To learn more about this type
Code:
man mount
or google for tutorials on the mount command and /etc/fstab.

I'm having issues with KnoppMyth R5F27 and my 8600 card... This is a fresh install, when I boot to the CD the resolution is too big for my TV (32" LCD attached via DVI->HDMI cable)... all edges are clipped, making it impossible to read the screen.

I have a spare 7800GTX here... would I have any more luck with that card? I believe the 8600 has better HD support... would I really be losing much dropping to the 7800GTX? My previous Knoppmyth box was running and old 5200FX card, and I was happy with the quality.

That would be overscan. Most, if not all, RP and LCD (don't know about plasma) TVs do that purposely, to eliminate bowing and other unwanted stuff showing around the edges of the screen. Some televisions have a "service menu" that allow you to adjust the amount of overscan.

Did you try entering "tv" at the initial boot prompt? That may help.

I have a 5500 and a 6200 in different boxes - I don't see any difference between the two. I don't think you'll notice any loss using the 7800 vs. the 8600.

I've been using the same TV... never had an overscan issue with the 5200, why would it start now with the 8600? Would the 7800 have the same overscan issue?

How was the 5200 connected? Some TVs that have VGA support a 1:1 pixel mapping that eliminates (some/much/most) of the overscan. Other than that, I would guess it's because you haven't changed the resolution in your xorg.conf, don't have the correct drivers, etc. As you haven't mentioned which troubleshooting steps you have tried I suggest perusing the Wiki, specifically
http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=XorgConf
http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php? ... diaDrivers
http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php? ... ngLogFiles

Did you type "tv" at the initial boot prompt?
