Has anyone been able to install it successfully? Whenever I try, the installer works but on first boot it goes into an insmod file copy fit and then the kernel seg faults. I assume I might need a different kernel? Anyone know for sure? This also happens on my laptop with VMWare Server using SCSI disks.

And yes im aware of the VMWare appliance but that doesnt work with ESX due to its use of virtual IDE disks. ESX doesnt support IDE disks, only SCSI.

Id like to get Knoppmyth on my ESX server to use it for transcoding and all that.

Well it seems to work ok with the BusLogic option....

And thanks for the link gray, but like I said that VM appliance doesnt work with ESX. Because it uses virtual IDE disks. And ESX doesnt support those, only SCSI.

Hi There, you might also want to note that SCSI disk and SATA disks use the same drivers. Also if you are having problems creating a VM, you may wish to use the P2V converter and clone a physical machine to a VM and see how that works. I think the converter is free (I know we paid for it at work, but I think a free version is available).

good luck.
