Dell Inspiron 1150 needing help. Getting stuck at 14% and after some digging discovered that the hdd is hdc instead of hda. I discovered this when manually creating the partitions. Please advise.

Would you like to test the next release? If so, PM me and pledge not to post multiple times.

Idea: Laptops usually have a "system restore" partition. Sometimes it's hidden, sometimes not. Maybe it's getting confused by that?

I had the same problem with my Dell 5150 and had to do a manual install. Check the pamphlet and follow the directions for installing on hdc. Everything else goes pretty straight forward.

There is a question that comes up during install about the master boot record. I can not remember the right answer but if you get it wrong, it will ask you where to boot from everytime you boot up. No biggie but it slows the boot up process down a little.

I had to do a manual install. Took me a while to realize you have to Write partitions individually. Then some weird && swapon command. Rebooted so the full 1-6 menu would show up after choosing manual install. Changed to ssh prompt to edit the lilo file using nano to change one line to hdc instead of hda. Everything eventually installed but now I get the c7 error. And also the hda3 partition never loads. Guess I should change that to hdc3 but if only I knew how. The c7 error seems to be video related but I am using Intel video on the laptop and it seems like I am using the VESA driver. This isnt much harder than modding an xbox with xbmc.

*Edit*

I followed the following to eliminate two issues. One: Doesnt fully boot to the red box screen. Two: find the file that contains hda3 reference and change to hdc3.

mount /dev/hdc1 /mnt/hdc1 (Mount the hdc)
cd /mnt/hdc1/etc (Change to the mounted directory)
nano lilo.conf (Nano is an editor, lilo.conf is the boot file(?))
*Change all references to hda to hdc*
nano fstab (Not sure wtf fstab does)
*Change reference from hda3 to hdc3*

I am still having the c7 respawning too fast error msg.
