Hi,

Everyday I get more features running on knoppmyth. It's great!

I have a problem that's bugging me for a few days now. I didn't look into it because I wanted to try mp3's, samba and webmin first.

The problem is that an audio cd won't play. MythMusic stops after a few seconds. The message on the console is similar to what is described in the following topic:
http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... light=scsi

Any ideas?

TIA,
Michael

PS: I don't know if it caused the problem but I ran "apt-get update" before reading about it because it was suggested by the apt-get install xine-ui.

PS:PS: Keep up the good work!

only thing I can think of is to run
Code:
 hdparm /dev/hdc

the above command assumes cdrom is on secondary master if it is somewhere else the hdc part will need to be changed.

What you are looking for is the dma section. make sure it has 1 on.
if not then run
Code:
hdparm -d 1 /dev/hda

of course if the drive is somewhere else then the command would need to be changed accordingly again.

using_dma is set to on.

Found in the forum, I issues the following post.
hdaparm -c1 -k1 -u1 -d1 -Xudma2 /dev/hdc

> hdparm /dev/hdc
HDIO_GET_MULTCOUNT failed: Invalid argument
BLKRAGET failed: Invalid argument
HDIO_GETGEO failed: Invalid argument

/dev/hdc:
IO_support = 1 (32-bit)
unmaskirq = 1 (on)
using_dma = 1 (on)
keepsettings = 1 (on)
readonly = 0 (off)

> hdparm -i /dev/hdc

/dev/hdc:

I've put hdc=ide-scsi in the append= section in lilo.conf. This solves the timeout problem.

My computer doesn't lock-up anymore, but it seems that cd's I've burned myself pause frequently while playing music while normal cd's play well.

My CD-writer is a 4 speed, my audio drive is a 16x dvd rom drive. Could this be a compatibility issue?

Thx,
Michael
