Post subject:  no sound from pinnacle bt878 output

hi, i recently changed my mythtv installation from redhat 9 / ATrpms which worked flawlessly to knoppmyth because of the forced xmltv changes and i upgraded my harddrive size.

Hardware:
Athlon 2400XP
Motherboard: K75SA
Soundcard: SB Live
TV Card: Pinnacle BT878
Video: Nvidia GE2 440 MX

everything works, except there's no sound output from my pinnacle bt878.. i confirmed that because i played my ipod thru the line in on my sound card and could hear the ipod music, while trying to watch live tv.

i've looked all over this forum for a solution and have tried several things including:
1. recompiling msp3400.o (which probably didn't do anything because i have BT878 -- according to one post)
2. adjust my soundcard inputs with alsamixer
3. one other post claimed a similar problem, but said he fixed it by changing the motherboard. well, i know for sure that this motherboard works since it worked under redhat 9.

anyone have any ideas or any known problems? i'm a relative newbie to all this stuff and can't tweak too much..

thanks

it works!!!

not really sure why, perhaps someone can explain it to me.. read on a post from another site to use 'scantv' and then the sound should kick it.

worked like a charm..

tried to edit my /etc/mythtv/modules/bttv based on:

http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=31

but still doesn't work.. only way i get sound while watching live tv is doing a scantv after every boot.
