Hi,

I'm running KnopMyth on an AMD Tbird 950MHz. When I first tried to use MPlayer to play DVDs, mplayer kicked out an "illegal instruction" error and stopped. I recompiled MPLayer with ./configure && make && make install. Now, when I play a DVD, I hear sound, but only see a blue screen.

I'm using a S3 Savage IX video card with TV-out. I only have a TV connected to my KnopMyth box, and I've set resolution to 640x480.

If I play the dvd from the command line, I still get no video, and sound is choppy. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Ok, I have a better idea what's going on.

I messed around with MPlayer some, and I've found that using "xv" as the video output device in MPlayer produces the blue screen. If I use x11 (or a few others), I get video. So, my question now is, how do I change the mplayer command for playing DVDs? Or, is there something I can do to fix xv in Mplayer?

Thanks!

I tried that; I didn't think I could modify the command line because the cursor was past the end of the entry box.

I tried modifying the command "blind", but it didn't seem to take effect.

I looked in the database, and indeed, my changes weren't there. I modified the database entries manually, and now all is well.

That might be something to look into for R5. Also, how about putting default mplayer settings in /home/mythtv/.mplayer/config rather than on the command line, so they can be more easily modified?

Thanks!
