Post subject:  Can you Auto Upgrade an Auto Installed Frontend?

Here it talks about doing a frontend-only install (converting an Auto Install backend/frontend to frontend only):

http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php? ... nlyInstall

In "The Pamphlet of KnoppMyth" it talks about creating a frontend using the CD to run from:

http://mysettopbox.tv/pamphlet.html

What I can't seem to find is information around the proper way (if possible) to do an Auto Upgrade of a previous frontend-only install?

Any help?

Since 150 people have viewed this message, but no one has responded, I assume that it isn't possible. Any frontend has to be a complete new install.

Bad assumption: for instance I didn't see your initial message.

I have auto-upgraded my remote frontend. However, you will probably still have to reconfigure the frontend to point to the backend, then disable mysql and apache and all.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Those front end only install instructions tell you to change a setting on the backend to the backend's IP number ("You will also need to make sure you change the IP address..."). DON'T DO THIS. If you then upgrade that backend to R5.5 the install will freak out and get stuck. It shouldn't be necessary to change.

Yeah, what he said. I did an auto upgrade on my FE machine (R5F27 --> R5.5) and I did have to reconfigure. It took like 5 min.
