I'm planning to take my fully functional R5.5 hardrive and place it in a different box for a number of reasons. I'm assuming I'll need to do an auto-upgrade once I move the HD (yeah, I'll definitely backup prior to moving it). Has anyone else done this before and am I correct? Old hardware: Athlon XP 1900+/A7N8X-VM moving to a slightly newer Athlon XP 3200+/A7N8X-E Deluxe. Both boards are nForce2 based. Thanks for the advice as always

You can always try to just drop your drive into the new hardware and see if it "just works". If the mobos have the same or very similar chipsets it may be ok to do. If not, then auto upgrade. |

Be prepared to redo certain config, I'd guess network and video for starters. Other than that I suspect it should just work. |
