Post subject:  Does R5.5 upgrade use old driver config files? RESOLVED

While upgrading my girlfriend's R5F27 system to R5.5 I saw
this file get restored:
Quote:
/etc/mythtv/modules/ivtv

This appears to be a human readable text configuration file,
the problem is that I recall having to tweak something that
looked like this several KM versions back. The tweaks were
from the forum here.

The main reason to do this upgrade was to get the latest
drivers to see if a small amount of flakyness goes away.

Should I replace all 5 of these ivtv files and all 5 bttv files
with stock versions from a clean R5.5 install?

The R5.5 Hints point you to the current "Taking advantage of the enhanced backup and restore scripts" posting which covers this in detail.

About the only thing is doesn't cover is what fixups are done, but the restore_fixups.sh script it points you to isn't all that hard to read if you need that level of detail.

I actually saw this file get restored, so it is not a question
of whether it should be restored... It was a question of
whether I should go for a possibly cleaner version of this
hardware configuration file.

This is now a moot point as the PVR350 upgrade process
caused me enough grief to make me dd a clean install over
my root partition and work from there to get the database
sorted out.

The fixups should take care of almost all of that for you. You may want to look at the file to see if there's anything you think you don't need but it already gets substantial cleanup.
