Hi. Time to upgrade to R5.5. And as usual its a mess sins my CD is hda and my disk is hdb. So now to the questions. Is there any Detailed how to on how to use the manual install? I dont want to miss anything important. Would it be hard to edit the auto install scripts so it will install on and partition hdb? If no where to look on the iso? /DonLKSAB |

I don't know about manual install instructions, but I can say that from my experience, you can do an auto install to hdb with no problems. The rest of this post is only important if you have more than one hard drive in the box. The one thing you have to do is press the space bar when you have selected the drive you want to install on, THEN use arrows or whatever to get to the OK button and press it. You will understand this statement better when you get to the part where you select which hard drive to install on. One other poster has said that he had problems and that 5.5 installed on hda even after he selected the other hard drive but that is not my experience. It doesn't hurt to be careful if you have more than one hard drive in your box and you want to avoid writing on the wrong drive. Remove the extra drives during the CD based part of the install and put them back after rebooting after ejecting the CD. |
