Post subject:  Second PVR card not changing channels

I have a PVR-350 based system that was working great. Then I added an additional PVR-250 so I could record on two channels at the same time. After configuring it with mythtv-setup, my box did start recording from both cards, but anything recorded on the 250 seemed to have recorded the wrong channel, yet what was recorded on the 350 is fine. I suspect 250 is on it's default channel and isn't changing channels at all. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... Thanks

well a couple of things.

first did you do the input connections part of mythtv-setup and assign the pvr250 to a video source?

second is it a MCE 250?

I assigned my one configured video source to both cards in input connections. (The box does record from both cards, but video recorded on the 250 is from the wrong channel.)

I did rerun mythfilldatabase and also rebooted the box too.

The cards are a Hauppauge PVR-350 (using tv-out) and a PVR-250. (Not sure what you mean by MCE)

Media Center Edition. There is a version of the 250 that is MCE. If this is the version you have, you'll need to recompile ivtv.

the media center edition cards are cheaper don't have a remote, and use a different chip so the release version of ivtv doesn't support them properly.

It did come with a remote so it's probably not an MCE then. Is there a way to tell for sure? By the way, thanks both of you for responding to the post. I had previously asked for help on the mythtv-users list and nobody responded at all.

I'm really not sure what to tell you. what video source are you using? cable? digital cable? satalite? if you just have analog cable, then it should be working, if you have some sort of box then it gets much more complicated.

There is a big white plastic sticker on the metal cover over the tuner section of the card, current NTSC-M/J PVR 250 cards are marked as model 32032. I don't remember the number for the PAL model. The PVR Card ID guide I was looking for in another thread has nice pictures: http://htpcnews.com/main.php?id=pvr_card_id_guide

This sounds similar to the experience I had when I failed to assign a source/cable configuration to the tuner 0 on my pvr350...

re-check your card setup... If it isn't a MCE card, you shouldn't have any issues other than possibly sound with the default isntallation...
