Hi I'm not a total newbie to Linux, but I'm having trouble here.

Hardware: Aopen EZ18 (Nforce 2 Chipset), with 2500+ Barton, 512mb RAM, 160 Gig Seagate hard disk, Nova-T digital TV card

The CD boot works perfectly. The whole install works fine, partitions, copies files ok. Then, it reboots, Linux starts to boot- and stops, at the line
"pty: 256 Unix98 ptys configured"

Any idea what I can do?

I tried Fedora Core 2, it installs fine but I'm a bit lost as to how to get Mythtv working on it.

I did notice in the boot sequence Fedora complained that "cable bits were set incorrectly- workaround" or something similar.

Do a search on "pty:" and you'll get about a dozen posts on this problem. Most seem to be related to booting with a USB keyboard instead of a PS/2. I'm having the problem with my Versapoint RF keyboard (also USB). I'll post if I find a solution for the problem.

I'm suprised no one's figured this out yet. It's been reported in the forums for a while. It's really annoying - especially if your one of the people with a usb only motherboard.

I just discovered that I have this problem too when I went to finally setup my box by the tv. So now I have an old keyboard hidden behind my tv.

Since this didn't happen with earlier versions of knoppmyth, and if you read the last post on this thread:

[/url]
It would appear to be related to the kernel/modules configuration.

Perhaps just rebuilding the kernel with different parameters would fix it - or upgrading to 2.4.26. The question is "which parameters to change?"

I've been considering doing a kernel rebuild just to streamline my kernel so maybe it's worth trying. I might stumble on it by accident. I suspect a rebuild will be less difficult than an upgrade build since Cecil gives us the already patched source...

I'm about to leave town for 2 weeks though & I doubt I'll get to it before I leave.
