Post subject:  5.5 ->R6 and LVM

Hi,

I have done a lot of searching and haven't had any luck, so forgive me if this has been covered.

I have installed R6 on my 2 FrontEnd machines, and now I am preparing for the upgrade of my BackEnd. In the 5.5 upgrade process the upgrade of a LVM mounted /myth partition is pretty clear. However, there isn't a comparable document for R6.

I am hesitant to begin this process before I have nailed down these kinds of issues. After all, once I am at that point I have erased the /dev/hda partition and would have a difficult time backing out.

Does anyone have any experience with this migration?

Thanks
Victor

Yeah a search of the forums should turn up something as I've helped a couple people with this so far.

One of the key things to do is convert your /etc/fstab to use either LABELs or UUIDs before you start. If you search for UUID with me as the author you should find it.

R6 fires up LVM support even when running from the CD and should find the volume group(s) given a chance.
